Ten months ago Line Odegaard came into our lives. When she left to return to Norway, she
took our love and left our hearts really aching. Since we were away from extended family most
of the time during Line’s time with us, they only saw glimpses of how much a
part of our family she has become. After
she left, we wandered listlessly through the house, hoping that she would come
out of her room and want to play Nertz or Hand and Foot. She is a bright light and we miss having her
here. She is now home with her loving family,
who missed her dearly. Within the
several days after she left, we Skyped with her as she rose early in the
morning, unable to sleep, and caught us while we were winding down for the day.
What started out as skeptical girls wondering why their
parents were letting a stranger come into their home, quickly turned to Katie
and Line being almost inseparable. When
Katie left in January for BYU-Idaho, it was quite the adjustment for them being
apart. But it also resulted in Rebecca
and Line becoming closer.
In the last few months and weeks leading up to her leaving,
Line would tell us that she was going to BYU-Norway, so that it would seem like
she was only leaving for a semester or two.
There are not words to express how we miss her and wish her
the best and are so grateful for her time with us – she is always in our
thoughts and prayers – our Norwegian daughter and sister. And we are so glad there is Skype, email and
facebook.
Katie came in town for a wedding and to spend time with Line
right before she left. We took the
chance to go to Zion National Park.
Rebecca was at YW Camp, Atkin was a school and Laurie had school and
clients.
